The office store salesperson helped us choose a printer that is designed to be low cost for high-yield black ink printing. Since we don't use our printer for much other than printing labels, this works for us and keeps the costs low. In order to achieve maximum savings, set your printer to use black ink only when printing as the default. (Note that printers will use a small amount of all inks when setting up and cleaning, etc., so these inks will need to replaced eventually, but not for a long period of time, and they continue to print long after they are indicated to be low - I use them until the printer won't print anymore until I replace that ink.)
